Here are some lovely sketches and artwork from the Stalker 2 2011 concept.

The image above depicts an MI-8 helicopter flying over an Apple Orchard in the zone. So there is still normal life in such a place.

A derelict Army base with the remnants of a truck parked in front.

Looking past crumbling houses towards the Duga radar in the distance. This shows the true zone. This is dangerous and derelict. With unknown horrors lurking around every corner.

Here is a fuel station. Looks harmless, but what could be lurking inside.. Or in the tunnels underneath? As discovered in Stalker Call of Pripyat.

A pipe leading into the water, this might be Zaton. This is a night scene depicting the Zaton area with a pipe leading into the water and a light tower in the distance. It is night time, you really should be in the Skadovsk...

This is depicting a way to escape the exclusion zone. Just get past the barbed wire and you are free. But why not go through the pipe instead?

This is a crumbling wooden bridge over a creek. This must be in the swamps area, it reminds me of the build version of the swamps from the early Stalker builds.
