The latest release of the venerable Debian GNU/Linux distribution is now available. This is version 7.0 and brings with it many improvements to the distribution and newer packages for the user. The installer has been overhauled and there is a set of multimedia codecs included with the distribution that will make it easier to enable MP3 and Xvid playback on your newly installed Debian Wheezy system. I am downloading the DVD ISO and I am planning to install this to test out the new packages. Debian 7.0 includes Gnome 3.4 and kernel 3.2; this is not cutting edge; but it is fairly recent. There is more news on this new release at the official announcement here: http://www.debian.org/News/2013/20130504. So get downloading and test out this new Linux release for yourself.
