23 years after the release of Microsoft Windows XP, it has been patched to function on an i486 CPU. This is an amazing hack. Sure, Windows 3.11 would run fine on a 486 machine with 4 megabytes of RAM, but this is a true hack, running Windows XP on such an old machine. A 485 SX 33 would be a good choice for this endeavour. I do wonder how well it would run on a 486, but since you can run Windows 3.1 on a 286 machine with a 2-megabyte expansion board, this should be doable. A 2/8 MB Memory Expansion Card, would be a good addition, if the 286 had the full 8 megabytes of RAM in the expansion board it would run ok using Windows 3.0 or Windows 3.1. A 486 SX 33 running Windows XP would depend on how many memory-hungry applications were running. The version of Windows XP used is Service Pack 3, which uses manually patched system files. It is admirable to come up with such an amazing hack in these times.
But this is true ingenuity in action.
