Xfce 4 is a far better desktop than Gnome.

I am running Xfce 4 on my PC and it is much better than Gnome. The file picker generates proper thumbnails and the desktop is far faster. Gnome has far too many bugs when creating thumbnails for media files, and Thunar has no problems at all. I installed the Windows `95 theme for Xfce and this works so well and is very fast. I prefer to use Xorg, the Wayland system is far too buggy for my liking. Especially KDE Wayland, which is not the best at all. Xfce 4 is very lightweight and has everything you need without installing a thousand extensions. It even has the Xfce screensaver to allow nice screensaver functionality. I have even found a Windows XP total conversion for Xfce to emulate the look of Windows XP. That would be amazing. I should give that a try. A true emulation of the Windows Classic theme would be very nice on Linux. This may be downloaded from the GitHub.

To set an Xfwm4 theme in the terminal, use this command.

(jcartwright@2403-4800-25af-b00--2) 192.168.1.5 luna $ xfconf-query -c xfwm4 -p /general/theme -s professional

This will set the Xfce 4 window manager theme.

To set the GTK theme in Xfce 4, use this command.

(jcartwright@2403-4800-25af-b00--2) 192.168.1.5 themes $ xfconf-query -c xsettings -p /Net/ThemeName -s "professional"

Query the currently enabled GTK theme this way.

(jcartwright@2403-4800-25af-b00--2) 192.168.1.5 themes $ xfconf-query -c xsettings -p /Net/ThemeName
native

Why does Gnome need the tweaks app instead of a built-in config panel to set up the desktop environment?
