The Enlightenment E17 window manager is now available for the Debian testing distribution. This window manager is now easier to install now that you are not required to install it with a CVS or GIT repository or with other complex commands. This is what my /etc/apt/sources.lst looks like, I have added the Debian Testing repository and now I could install it with a simple command. E17 with a nice theme is a lovely and easy to use desktop environment. The screenshot to the left shows the old Aliens theme with the troop carrier wallpaper. The awesome HR Giger styled Aliens window decorations are something that set this theme apart. I wish that this sort of window decoration was available now. The Enlightenment window manager for Linux has always been a quality Window Manager with some beautiful themes that make any desktop look awesome indeed.

Just type: sudo apt-get update && apt-get install e17 to install the enlightened window manager to your system.
This screen-shot shows the Enlightenment packages available for Fedora 15. The E17 packages are not available in the default repositories but the E16 packages are easily installed. One nice feature that E16 has over E17 is the rippling water effect that you can enable on the bottom of the screen. To install new themes in Enlightenment E16, copy the *.etheme files into the ~/.e16/themes folder, restart E16 and select them from the list in the theme manager.
