I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate alongside my Debian 6.0 install, as I wanted to try out Internet Explorer 9.0 and it is pretty good, rather like Firefox 4.0 in appearance. The performance of the Aero desktop is far ahead of the KDE 4.5 desktop. KDE is slow as anything running with Compiz enabled, but Windows 7 and Directx 10 is super fast and very reliable. If you are running Debian it is better to use Gnome or Fluxbox, not KDE as it is very bloated and annoying far removed from the KDE 2.2 release that was fast and very usable as was KDE 3.4 and 3.5. I am using IE 9.0 and Firefox 4.0 as well as Winamp for music playback and BlazeDTV 6.5 for watching HD television. I am using a limited user account for security reasons, that will make using Windows safer, and a comprehensive hosts file for blocking unwanted web banner ads. So in summary, it is working extremely well and I can not wait to try out all of the features. I just need to re-install the bootloader for my Debian installation and everything will be set. And as I mentioned before, using a limited user account for day to day usage is the best thing you can do.
