Xvideo Service Thief. A good video downloader for Linux. This application allows you to download online video from a variety of sources such as the popular video sharing website Youtube. You click the add video button and paste a Youtube URL and the video will be downloaded. I found that this does not work with the https:// URL that you can use with Youtube, but it works very well as a download manager for your favourite online videos. The default download location is the $HOME/xVideoServiceThief_downloads folder. on my system this is the /home/john/xVideoServiceThief_downloads folder. Now that Adobe are stopping support for the macromedia flash plugin for browsers other than the privacy invading chrome web browser, then you will either have to use HTML5 or this application to download online videos and watch them at your leisure. The home page for this project is here: http://xviservicethief.sourceforge.net/index.php?action=downloads#Linux.

Download the compressed package for Linux and unpack it in a folder under your ~/Downloads folder then run the install.sh file as your normal user. Then type cd ~/xVideoServiceThief and then ./xvst and the program will open. This program works fine with Youtube, but not with Metacafe or Myspace, but I am sure the support for various video sharing websites will get better as the program develops. This is a fine addition to any Linux desktop, so get downloading today!

lol I hope you enjoyed the downloads from “Jizz hut” as per your screenshot. Is this some kind of Pizza Hut for pornstars?

Seriously tho, I use the VideoDownloadHelper Firefox extension for this – http://www.downloadhelper.net/

I use download helper for Firefox 11 myself, but I just needed to review this other application anyway. It is pretty good.
