This is a Metacity theme that will work with MATE. This is the Metro UI theme for Gnome 2.32.2 or MATE: http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/?content=157024. This is for those of you that want the Metro UI look for the Linux Mint 14 MATE desktop. There is also a Windows 8 iconset that is available for download in png format, but I am not sure if they are actually in a MATE icon theme archive. http://www.iconarchive.com/show/windows-8-metro-icons-by-dakirby309.html. Still, someone could arrange these into a theme and create a nice Windows 8 Metro UI theme pack for MATE. But the Metacity theme works very well and all it needs is a flat Metro GTK theme to go with it. Then you could get a complete Metro look on Linux. If that is what you want that is. Anyway, download this theme and give it a try, if you do not like it you can easily choose another excellent theme.

  1. This is great! I feel that for all effort and screaming people are putting into claiming how big of a mistake Windows 8 is, they could be directing that energy into realizing what an incredible opportunity this is to promote Linux as a direct alternative to Windows 8. We shouldn’t be fighting the shift to the Modern look, we should be embracing it.
