Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal problems, but the boot times are lightning fast.

Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Unity desktop.
Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Unity desktop.

The Ubuntu 12.10 distribution is having some problems with the apt package management right now, but the overall feel of the Unity desktop in the latest build is very nice indeed. I can not install any packages with the apt-get command at all, this is a recognised bug with the Ubuntu 12.10 distribution, hopefully this will be fixed soon. I tried this fix here: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+question/203579 but this did not work at all. I have added my /etc/apt/sources/list below, this file is correct, but installing any packages will not work. But this is the only real bug on this incredible distribution. The new Nautilus file-manager looks very good indeed, the UI is still very usable despite all of the changes they have wrought, the feel of the old Gnome applications is still there, it just looks different when you load it up. It is promising to be an awesome desktop operating system despite the bugs outlined below.

As in this example, installing a new text editor works…

But installing a DVB application will not work.

john@quantal-box:~$ sudo apt-get install me-tv

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 me-tv : Depends: libgtkmm-2.4-1c2a (>= 1:2.24.0) but it is not installable
         Depends: libunique-1.0-0 (>= 1.0.0) but it is not installable
         Depends: libxine1-x but it is not going to be installed
         Recommends: dvb-apps but it is not going to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

This should be corrected soon, I am wanting to install the me-tv DVB application and VLC. The boot times for this distribution are very fast indeed with 6 Gigabytes of RAM and a fast SATA II hard disk. On a SSD it would be lightning fast indeed.
