The next release of the Linux Mint 16 distribution code named “Petra” will be released in November. This will include the new KDE 4.11 desktop interface as well as many other enhancements and upgrades. I am looking forward to this release. This is the best desktop environment around and is well worth the time taken to download and install it. This new edition of Linux Mint will probably be based on Canonical’s upcoming Ubuntu 13.10 “Saucy Salamander” But this Linux distribution will not have the privacy invading Amazon code in it that will steal information abut your searches and send it to Amazon. That is one good thing. The Ubuntu distribution has sold out to Amazon, this is why you should run alternate distributions instead. The privacy risks are not worth it. And you may install the Unity desktop on Linux Mint if you wish. But I prefer the MATE desktop over all others.
