I recorded this by installing the byzanz command. This is installable in Linux Mint 16 by following this guide.

http://linuxg.net/how-to-install-byzanz-0-3-0-on-ubuntu-13-10-13-04-12-10-12-04-linux-mint-15-14-13-elementary-os-0-2-luna-and-pear-os-8/.

Then type:

byzanz my.gif -d 60

to record for 60 seconds. This is another good way to make a simple screen recording.
